look what I found..air tactics

Postby DWOMT » Sat Jan 03, 2009 7:43 pm

Here's something for all of us pilots. I was doing some research and came across this site that shows you air tactics used for combat aircraft. This could be stuff we could really put to use in dogfight situations. If you guys want to give it a look at that'd be great, I'll see if I can find a way to post the info from that site on to this forum.

Ok I posted the pictures and descriptions for you guys on this site. I know it's a lot of info, and probably quite a bit to look through. I figure just skim over it and see what maneuvers you like and see if you can apply them to your air skills in Warhawk. I must look like such a geek for posting all of that, but I've loved aircraft and air combat since I was a kid, so I am a magnet for this stuff. My locked topic showing all the info is at:

The info can be discussed here though.

I almost went to the Air Force Academy out of high school, but changed my mind and didn't go. Don't know why, but had a bad feeling about it, like I shouldn't do it. So I went to college instead. But yeah I've always had a thing for air combat. From those tips I like to use the vertical assault on you guys. I used it on Pocket twice last night and got him hehehe

I think I saw these pictures on the official forums a long time ago and the feedback they got was that they seem good in theory but I think the warhawk physics might be slightly different than any modern aircraft. These are a great resource, thanks DW for the hard work. I think the key to all of this is practice and repetition. Find a technique or two that works for you and perfect them to the point where you dont think about it anymore, offensively and defensively.

Yeah you're right Pocket. These maneuvers are good in theory. I know they can be used to mimic the best we can, I know I already use similar movements from these tactics when I fight in Warhawk. One move I was looking at in the displays called the "Low Speed YoYo Straight Pursuit" is an excellent way to dodge an airmine that someone spits out at you while you're chasing them. It looks like a good way to duck beneath while in pursuit then come right back up from under them and then hit them with everything you got. I am gonna start trying this maneuver rather than just chasing them in a straight line and smashing into an air mine they crap out in my face when I almost have the kill. But yeah I think if we can practice some of these, I think it can help us all and surprise any enemy pilots we face.
