lmao... ok here is the story

a long time ago my drive failed, but i had all my kids pictures on it so i kept the drive so i could image it and get his baby picture and up till he was around 3 years old, i put the drive up and it kinda slipped my mind that i had it.

couldnt slave the drive or thumb it to get anything off of it, wasnt gonna pay out the ass to send it off either, then about a week ago as i was cleaning out a bunch of spare pc parts i had and i ran across the drive, so i got to working with it and realized the read arm was shot,

couldn't find a new read arm for it but i found a new identical drive for 20 bucks, so now im taking the read arm out of the new one and putting in the old one so i can thumb the drive and hopefully get everything off of it

awesome tinkering fish. did the arm swap work. i would have been afraid to move the arm.

the arm swap worked to an extent, its no longer crashing on the platters, but my bios wont detect the drive, kinda in a funny way tho cause when i thumb the drive it says its connected but then i cant see it, and its not detected in the bios.

there is a way around this on a linux system sorta, i might get the images off since linux will ignore the windows file structure
