there seems to be a problem...for me at least....
it says: "A connection to the server could not be established"

any ideas on wat that means?

people are panicing on the psn boards becase there is no info on the update ha.

July 29, 2008 - If you were in the mood for some late night gaming Tuesday, you might have been surprised to find PlayStation 3 firmware 2.42 waiting for you to download. According to Director of PlayStation Network Operations Eric Lempel, the update "improves the playback quality of some PlayStation 3 and PlayStation format software."

That's all well and good, but a number of people on the IGN PS3 Board are reporting downloads crashing and system errors. So far, I've only been able to get my update to the 1 percent mark before the operation craps out and gives me error No. 80710723. Meanwhile, other folks on the IGN message boards are reporting super-quick downloads.

well at least its not just me...i got to 37% then it stopped then 1%, then it wouldnt load.

Hey i just booted about an hour to two ago. it took forever to download but once it did it installed quick and i rebooted and booted warhawk and it played fine. if you are still having troubles post. and we will try to help.

I dont remember let me log on real quick. tell me specificly wehre you are looking so i am not confusing you further. :-)

when i click on sys info in the settings drop down i see
system software Version 2.42 and my ip mac and free space.

i dont remeber what the user agrement level was and i am not sure where to look for it now that i downloaded and updatd.

that is never cool when you are talking firware its kind of spooky but i am somewhat superstucious. yeah i say computer prayers what about it.

think about it brown out and you dont have a Universal Power back up attached you have a brick of silicon. its damn spooky.

never had to disscharge a CRT. if i was doing that i woudl be coverd in spiritual madellions.

system updates take forever for me, so i download them overnight. one day i woke up and my brother said "we had a power failure last night" and i totally bricked it, i pissbolted to my room to check my triple, it must have finished before the powerfailure because it all worked perfectly. i know how you feel blister
