dude! everything off rust in peace is just awesome, and i was surprised at how much i liked endgame as well. I still think chris broderick is a little too good for megadeth though.

ha. yeah the whole rust in peace is pretty epic. dawn of the mole patrol is still fairly odd for what otherwise is a cohesive selection of intellegent critical hard rock.

IDK a lot of band mate names so i am unfamilar with the instrument chris broderick plays.

I will check out Endgame I have never heard that one.

ok i know that is not jelousy but man its well the ohter green smile is picking his nose.

I guess if you really practice and practice for a long time you just become good. it is so freaking slow and difficult for me. IDK why.

my grandfather could play all sting instruments. < that is not a exageration but fact. man what ever he had in his DNA took a huge alt route when it came to me.

gah practice practice. i've been trying to sweep pick recently. it's just loveless drilling of technique. i can do 3 string sweeps okay. but 5/6 are killer....

good on you i am going to be a relative good boy and practice more then play ( games ) :-0 I am working on getting the relative key notes to the chords so i can pass back and forth with my teacher. we are noodling around with a django rhinehardt song. its got some sweet variations of A blues scale that playe in the key of E have a very gypsy sound. no techniqe right now. just having fun with the Key notes.

I'm already used to keys, scales, church modes etc. from previous experience. most of my guitar beef(or turkey?) is changing over skills to using them on guitar. example a. blazing arpeggio's.

what i'm learning now...

it's so hard.... :suicide: learning sweep picking is loveless boring work. normall i'll watch tv with my guitar drilling shapes. (that's the other annoying thing. there are different shapes for each chord style (maj, min, dim, aug etc.) and about 3 different shapes for each chord style. and there are 5 string sweeps 6 string 7 etc. it's so frustrating. but you can see the result

ok if i nail down the gypsy / a diatonic / a blues scale maybe i will post a riff ish thing out there but i would just be shamed by your sweeeps. different style and speed but knowing where the keys are is where i am focousing now.

yeah man that ain't me ;) too clean and quick.
I find it really hard to just concentrate on playing the same shape all the time. so i like to write little solo's to practice techniques. in this case, i was practicing a particular 5 string major sweep. and i was bored just going up and down it. so i had some fun.
Code: Select all
Cmaj
E-15-12------------------12-15-12--17-12-----
B------13---------------13-------13-----13---
G--------12-----------12---------------------  continued on underneath
D----------14-------14-----------------------
A------------15-10-15------------------------
E--------------------------------------------
Cmaj.                                 Dmaj.
E-15-12------------------12-15-12--18-12--17-14--------------------14-17-14----
B------13---------------13-------13-----13-----15----------------15--------15--
G--------12-----------12-------------------------14------------14--------------
D----------14-------14-----------------------------16--------16----------------
A------------15-10-15--------------------------------17-12-17------------------
E------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                                                      (vibrato)
        Emaj.                                                         ~~~~~~~~
E-20-14---19-16--------------------16-19-16--17-14---20-17---22-19----b24------
B-------15-----17----------------17--------17-----15------18------20--------
G----------------16------------16------------------------------------------
D------------------18--------18--------------------------------------------
A--------------------19-14-19----------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------------------------------

that's pretty much it. After writing it i was sort of like. "cool" so i might use that in an upcoming song i'm writing.

very cool TT. i am putting puzzle peices together in a way myself.

I am noodling around in the A blues scale on the 7th fret

i am layering the A Diatonic scale on the 7th fret over the top of it

and going back and forth between key notes. i am starting to see them clearer
while practicing today with my teacher. i could her his rhytham while i kept in time on the scale it was a beautiful moment. knowing where i needed to be and that in my head i knew the tempo and i could hear my notes matching his rytham. very nice day for me :-)

just bought a CD by these guys that came out two years ago. this is not on it but i could not find a song on youtube that i liked off " Today is a good day" that really represented them . there is a metal ish song that is there but if you dont know thesee guys you would get the wrong impression. I have been a fan since 1986 ish somthing ha. :) i have never seen them live. still want to.

here you go here is somthing more clasic of how i think of these guys. they mix so many styles its hard to convey in one song. enjoy

its moving to me still

The OK Go music video above wasn't actually even created by them. They had a contest, best idea/video gets made into the Ok Go music video. Still a great idea and love their videos.
