Whoever said the 360 was more than $300, its $200 and look dude, if you have a ps3 i'd stick with it. I have both and I like both but I do prefer my ps3. My parents are divorced and I have one at each house to change things up. All my real friends that I play games with have a 360 and you guys all have a ps3. Don't buy a 360 now as the newer one comes out in like a year and a half to two years and that system will only be on par with the ps3.

dude...will u really recommend som1 to buy the crappy $200 version which doesent even have a hard drive...i said 300+ bcuz u can either get the 60 gig for 300 or the elite for 400

I agree with Noods... if you're going to take adavantage of the hardware you would need to get something more than the base model. However, if someone were just going to play disc games and not download or partake much in Xbox Live, I guess the $200 would get the job done. I've just read from multiple sources that the $200 360 is extremely watered down (don't know from personal experience as I don't own a 360 and have only played the Elites).

In my opinion, I don't really see the need to own both systems (just too similar in function and software).

The only difference between the 2 is the hardrive space. The $200 one has 20 gigs, which is plenty of space for downloading shit off of xbox live while the more expensive ones have 240gigs, which has no use on an xbox as it has nothing to offer where you actually need the space. The two versions aren't watered down, its just a matter of space.

After entirely too long, Jasper has finally been discovered in the wild. As we originally predicted back in early October, the first Jaspers were identified by being labeled 12.1A on the 12V rail. Somewhat surprisingly, the first ones discovered also came with a 150W PSU. We of course knew this would happen eventually, but many believed that early Jaspers would use left over 175W PSUs. It's still possible there are some Jaspers floating around labeled as 14.2A and including a 175W PSU that were simply never recognized for what they were. Also as predicted, the Jasper motherboard featured a new PSU power connector that prevents using a newer, less powerful power supply on an older Xbox that needs more power. This information wasn't confirmation enough for some, but no doubt remained after one was finally dissected. One other interesting tidbit is the inclusion of 256MB of on-board flash, allowing Microsoft to forgo the memory card for Arcade systems and also to preload NXE without a hard drive.

So far it appears that lot number 0842 from team FDOU or CSON and 0843 FDOU have been confirmed Jasper. Unfortunately, the somewhat confusing bit is that some of these same lot numbers have also been confirmed to be Falcon. Clearly, we are in the midst of a transition period, so there are still no guarantees based on external box markings. If you get a console labeled 12.1A on the 12V rail and comes with a 150W PSU, you can be assured that you have a Jasper-based console.

I would like to reiterate that Microsoft will likely never comment officially on Jasper or any other Xbox 360 revision, so don't waste your time trying to contact them. Along the same lines, your average retail employee is not going to have a clue what you're talking about if you ask, so don't bother.

It may take a few weeks for these to become more common - I still can't find one locally myself, and it would be a total crap shoot ordering online. So the hunt continues around here. We'll have our own dissection and analysis as soon as we can get our hands on one. And if you're hunting for one yourself, post all of your findings in the official thread in the AnandTech Forums.

The basic $200 xbox is just the regular xbox, it has everything the others have but it has less space. The $400 xbox is the xbox 360 elite which is the same as the other one but it has 240gigs.

The Arcade bundle comes with NO hdd. The Pro bundle has a 60 GB. Now if you could find one that still came with 20GB I don't know how much it would cost.

yea i kno that...thats why what twist is sayin is confusin me..i mean..an elite wit 240 gigs..and a $200 360 wit a 20 gig.. i havnt heard about either of those...

Dude, the first xbox 360 to ever come out was the 20gig one. The 360 "halo" elite that my friend bought for $400 has 240 gigs. I have seen 240gigs for $400 and 20gigs for $200. Maybe canada is just freaking awesome but those are the deals around here.
