The Mist

Postby twistedblister » Thu Jul 24, 2008 8:22 pm

based on a short stroy by steven king.

ok let me say i was moved by this movie. not often somthing like this suprises me and gives me the knock out one two punch. being a logical individual i really felt for the protagonist of the movie.

let me say not a feel good movie. but deffinitely a high mark for hollywood horror

I often am frustrated by works of such excellance. I am overjoyed to experaince the majesty of them but at the same time depreassed that my own work is so far below the bar.

Ya it looked kind of like the fog so I gave it a pass. I might go see it now though.

ok the original fog pretty cool the remake let me paraphrase chef and say it sucked my salty chocolate balls.

this is a very very disturbing and masterful work in character dialouge dilivery plot devleopment and and implementation.

I would have to say this wow'd me. I dont remember a work of horror hitting so hard as this.

nothing at all like the fog. that said anything i say takes some of the impact away from it. just be ready to go do some happy things after you watch this. you will need it.

I think ill rent it soon, sounds cool. Also I won't need to do some happy things after. Horror movies are cool to watch but don't scare me or anything.

its not the scary ooh afraid of the dark type thing. this movie will sucker punch you with lots of little things and make you question some things.
put me in a minor funk for about an hour. i wound up featal on the floor watching the weather channel coverage of Huricane Dolly whiping on San Padre just to get some balnce and perspective back.

I was mistaken too and thought it was a fog type ripoff. man i cant belive this thing was not spoiled in trailers and just in the air. it is a brutal film.

I really dont need to pump this up but I would honestly say its a Iconic peice of horror. It does what i felt has not been done which is mix societal coment and pure freaking awulf horror / human naked exposure of the pathetic human core.

out side oppinion you ask

why sure

I showed it to my wife. her words " that is the most horrible thing you have ever made me watch. "

I never said it was a happy peice. just masterful.

every other thing steven king has had transfered to film is childish compared to the emotion in this peice. nice source material and nice film adaption. truly an iconic peice of work.

I would have argued that " Gummo" is a more foul peice of a work offenisve in a stronger but different way but she was not in the mood to debate. :-)

ok i probably wont watch "the mist" again but will watch Gummo when ever i am feeling to comfortable too compalcent. to happy.

the mist just reafirms my belief system which really is not conducive to my well being.

I liked this movie too twisted. I liked the explanation for the mist was (not gonna spoil it for those who haven't seen it). The movie had me wondering what was gonna happen next. I don't see how anyone couldn't like it.

On a side note, they should make another Mist type movie. It could start off with a beautiful spring day, then mist comes in over the mountains. It over takes a small town, once inside the mist people start seeing Warhawks and TOW missiles hitting the landscape. My kind of movie!
Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory.
