i had often thought that. probably the best commercial electric car made was the GM EV. and what fate did that car suffer? it was ugly and didn't sell. unfortunately most car company's feel electric cars can't make money anymore

why cant all the hybrid cars be cool looking? everyone ive seen is ugly as crap.
ppl are not quik to buy hybrid vehicles, and then they bitch about how much they pay for fuel, maybe its cause they are ugly ass vehicles.

Chevy brought out a hybrid fullsize pickup and it actually looked normal, and if you electricity went out in you house it had like 4 outlets in the bed that you could plug stuff into. and the price i believe was close to regular vehicles.
I hate it when the voices in my head go silent.....I never know what those fuckers are up to.

Yeah, I think it's funny to hear some guy complaining about gas, when he has a V8 heavy-duty pick up truck, or a hummer.

unfortunately hybrids are actually worse for the enviroment due to the chemicals in the batteries. thetres just no easy solution is there.

You can deal with the battery's chemicals better than the gas's exhaust. The chemicals can be recycled, the exhaust can not.

I love my gas guzzler! I say most people who are getting a new car think if they really like the looks of it they will pay extra for gas. They try to tell themselves they wont drive as much to try to reason with themselves!!!

When I was in greece, where gas is about $7-8 per gallon, there are NO SUVs/4x4s. There are cars and motorcycles, and that's pretty much it. I'm a freak, and I want gas to be about $5 or $6 a gallon, so people will stop being so wasteful..but that's just me.

Ha. I dont know I have mixed feelings. I would like to see energey independence to allow for a more evan handed forigen policy. ( for all countires. dont think i am US bashing here. all major countries are postiioning over reserves. china in Dafur Russsia in Georgia. )

I drive what i drive becase i own it. Ihave a deisl and a gas / ethonal vehicle but i would consider hydrogen or ohter fuel based vehicles if the infrasturctre were there to support them. I mean gas stations for the fuel you need for your vehicle

All of Europe seemed to have insane prices for fuel the past couple of months

that is where it was heading people were being faced with the fact they might have to use public transit or car pool or trade in the guzzler for a more efficent wagon. Not everyone needs a subruban to go to wally world with the kids.

But in my opinion its only wealthy people who buy hummers and the gas price is of no concern to them for most part. Not many people who work at mcdonalds are scraping up enough money to buy a hummer then goin "oh crap i dont have any money left over for gas". But i see the point you are making! My SUV only get about 13 miles to the gallon so i dont have much room to talk. Also i spend $3500 to $4000
every week on fuel so actually i have even less room to talk then i first thought. LOL i will bail out of this converstion now.

I am not evean talking about what you can afford i am kind of thinking about the finite supply of the fuel. no one really seems to have a good plan / RnD in the works to replace the current infrastructure for the new fuel once we start to deplete the oil from what it can sustain. India and China are going to put huge demands on the supply in the coming years.

how much is fuel per litre in the US? it's like £1.20 ish here i think which is terrible considering I want to get a motorbike after December.

Also, I was watching Top Gear the other day (british programme about cars) and they had a car made by Audi which looked ok - bit like the car Will Smith drives in I-Robot - which ran on hydrogen and is supposed to be good for the environment and really cheap to run... Because you can get hydrogen from salt water.

Final note, saw the funniest thing on the news the other day... a man had 4 jobs, yes 4 jobs, just to own and run a humvee in the UK!! he also drove the car to work so had to pay even more because of the fuel.
