Tips and Tricks

the Incognito tank technique

the Incognito tank technique

Postby MadHazard » Tue Nov 04, 2008 8:12 am

hey. i've done some time on warhawk for a while and i noticed that tanks have a hidden ability that can become of great use to ground combat. you see, when you look at an enemy tank coming right at you, you forget to notice something that is usually out in the blue for your side.

the name

you cannot see the name of the enemy driving it. and if so, that should be the same when they look at you in a tank. so what i started to do is, i found a likely place that the enemy would pass through, stand still in the tank before the enemy comes, and stay completely still when they see the tank.
3 things will happen. 1. they will pass you thinking your tank was abandoned. 2. they will shoot at the tank a little, then pass you. 3. (my most favorite one) they will try to get in the tank thinking its empty! XD XD XD

use this right and you could turn the tides on a battle of main ground combat. unfortunately i've looked around with a warhawk and you can actually see the name of the enemy tank as you fly by so it might not be that useful when warhawks can be used. but either way this technique is a very good one and can trick the enemy when they come towards you.

use it well

Yeah, but therein lies the problem. If you are sitting still you are a sitting duck for a warhawk. And any real game situation is going to involve them.

that is very true. you would have to be very careful with that.

yet it still would be a very good resouce when going through a ground based tourney.

and you wouldn't have a problem if you have good aim. which would be good to practice sometime

Couldn't this idea work if you quickly switched out of the cockpit of the tank and hid in the hatch of the tank leaving the cockpit empty?

I'm thinking they'd still see your name. Plus their reticule would turn red from a ways away iirc.

Hadn't really thought about doing that... What I do quite often is place my tank in a good spot where I can keep an eye on the base (in zones), then I hop out and squat right next to it with the ole knife equipped (making the tank look unoccupied on radar, and making me invisible). I wait until some Dbag flies in and lands next to the flag, and then BOOM! :shk: I jump in the tank and kill him. This works VERY well on the Archipelago map (middle base) where you can pull the tank underneath one of the walkways (that lead to the Warhawk launch pads) and keep it out of sight. Watch the radar for a Warhawk to flie in and land, jump in the tank and kill'em dead.
