Someone knows how to use Google, go Fishy man.

Might as well go ahead and explain this. The fact is heat is a measurement of energy. (Coldness is a lack of heat). So therefore while 0 deg C is freezing for water there is still quite a bit of energy there. So therefore we must use a scale whose 0 point is at Absolute 0 (where all molecular activity stops, READ: No energy is present) and that scale is Kelvin. Kelvin and C are 273 degrees apart. Shown by absolute 0 on C being -273 deg and it being 0 on K. 1 degree is the same size in these two scales. So to get what temp would be twice as hot you have to convert to K first then back to C.

0 deg C is about 273 K 0 + 273 = 273
Multiply the deg K by 2 then subtract 273
(273 * 2) - 273 = 273 and that's deg C since we subtracted 273 to get back from K.

Therefore 40 deg C is not twice as hot as 20 deg C
20 + 273 = 293 * 2 = 586 - 273 = 313

So for a place to be twice as hot as 20 deg C it has to be 313 deg C. A quicker way to figure this out would be to take temp in deg C multiply it by 2 and add 273 and you'll get the correct answer.
20 * 2 = 40 + 273 = 313

they have him doing alot of advanced math stuff , last year he had the highest test scores in the state, when he was in 2nd grade they wanted to advance him a grade, but i said no cause i didnt want him outta his age range. But i have always excelleld in math and it seems he is the same, i had him working on square and cubed roots in first grade (just to see if he could grasp it), and by second grade he was doing pre algebra ....sometimes i wonder if i should have just left him alone to do it at his own pace. But no matter, im still very proud of him.

He does know his math then lol. I was thinking this would be a good example for middle schoolers when I sub and they were bored in science or something, Maybe I can do it if they understand heat is energy, but who knows.

I think some kids can grasp just about anything, they might not quite understand it completely, but i pushed my kid just to challenge him cause he was alwys bored and he took it and ran. What sucks is i will prolly never be able to ground him for bad grades, his lowest GPA was 3.8, that was because i didnt sign his assignment log and he was graded on it.( i got in trouble at a parent teacher conf fo that one.) But he has always been on the honor roll and usually has a 4.0

Answer your question?
