I found Halo to be boring. Great landscapes and scenery, but that was about it. The FPS aspect seemed dull. I honestly got way more fun out of Battlefield 1942 and DOD Source than Halo.

I didn't find halo amazing but I just found it more enjoyable than R2's competitive mode.
