PS. There is a sign like that in Utah.. I think it may be longer. I think its right after green river... Which is kind of a kooky town... Lol

We came back to Colorado springs for the nite, I think the only pass open is Loveland but it is not above the tree line, oh well I will come back in the summer, we have some stuff planned for the day here then back to western Kansas tonite :)

holy shit thanks to nemo we took a nice little nature hike this morning, what sucks is we live 2 blocks above sea level, we go hiking around about 6500 feet and the air is that much thinner?!?! crap I'm getting old

Are you sure about that? The road may not actually go above the tree line, but its where the tree line stops. We used to hike the ridge from the road and that would go above the tree line. Lovaland ski resort (tho not on the pass, its on the north side of the I70) has the highest chair lift in north America. It drops you off at 12,700.

Just saying.. lol. I think the sign at the top of loveland pass reads 11990 or 10990 ... Been a while since I've been there.

yeah I dunno drew..I googled it and it didn't show it above the treeline, I wanted to drive above the treeline. But it would've been cool to drive through the tunnel.

all in all it was a fun trip, nemo said it was worth it sitting in a motel for a week before we got out there, then the trip up pikes peak, even tho it was closed below the tree line at mile 13. The long ass drive trying to find a high altitude pass that was still open let us get in some nice scenic driving, really beautiful country up there.
If I were to ever move it would be to Buena Vista CO, tucked away in a valley along hiway 24, the views are spectacular, I even think nemo is ready to go now
