Constantly risking absurdity
and death
whenever he performs
above the heads
of his audience
the poet like an acrobat
climbs on rime
to a high wire of his own making
and balancing on eyebeams
above a sea of faces
paces his way
to the other side of the day
performing entrechats
and sleight-of-foot tricks
and other high theatrics
and all without mistaking
any thing
for what it may not be
For he's the super realist
who must perforce perceive
taut truth
before the taking of each stance or step
in his supposed advance
toward that still higher perch
where Beauty stands and waits
with gravity
to start her death-defying leap
And he
a little charleychaplin man
who may or may not catch
her fair eternal form
spreadeagled in the empty air
of existence
- Lawrence Ferlinghetti
This poem kicks ass.

Re: Constantly Risking Absurdity
I liked that cloud! i hope you don't mind me posting one of my favorite poems.
TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?
Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

NOt that i compaare but here is one i was tinkering with the past few days
Mental Impact
Wall of thought
Feeling torn in two
Halted instanly
stupifying shock
Jolting conciouness
rendering new vistas for view
Nothing familar to offer suppport
euqilibrium impossible to maintain
world rotates madly askiew
disasters door
locked to rational thought
impossible Key used
only when not conciously
sought.
ok so it was probably cough medicne and antihistamine induced but it somthinhg i scribled the other day. enjoy

A poem by Fish
My nookie days are over
my pilot light is out
what used to be my sex appeal
is now my water spout
time was when of its own accord
from my trousers it would spring
but now it is a full time job
just to find the blasted thing
it used to be embarrassing
the way it would behave
for every single morning
it would stand and watch me shave
as old age approaches
it sure gives me the blues
to see it hang its withered head
and watch me tie my shoes
The End.

I hate it when the voices in my head go silent.....I never know what those fuckers are up to.
